Catherine’s Family | Antigonish Family Portrait Photographer

Families , October 29, 2013

Catherine’s idea for a family shoot kept morphing and growing.  It started off with a portrait session for her own family (with her 16 month old son), and her sister’s family (with their two little girls).  The plan was to use a pumpkin patch as a backdrop.  I have to admit, I was a little disappointed to learn that the pumpkin patch location wasn’t going to work, but I was excited to learn the grandparents were jumping in at the last second.  We ended up meeting at Columbus Field and park.  I’d say about 80% of the fall colours had dropped by this point and were on the ground, but with a shallow depth of field (camera nerd talk for a blurry background) and a keen eye for colour we were able to spot some nice backdrops after all.  There was a lot of blonde going on this day!  I have to say, I really loved photographing this family.  They were keen to try new things and were very laid back, funny and easy going.  Having subjects who are quick to smile and who want to be photographed makes all the difference in how images ultimately look.
